We offer individual lessons on violin, viola, guitar, music composition, and audio production. Students from age 4 to 150 are equally welcome. We love teaching all ages! Lessons are either 30, 45, or 60 minutes per week depending upon the age and level of the student. Each fully enrolled student receives three individual weeks and one group week out of every four weeks. We also offer a pay-as-you-go option for adult students who can come during weekday hours. Violin & Viola
In violin and viola instruction at BT Studios, lessons with Liza are Suzuki-based with a strong emphasis on ear-training, technique, step-by-step mastery, and parental involvement from the very beginning. In honoring diverse musical traditions as well as each student’s innate ability to create from within, there is also an emphasis on learning a variety of different styles and genres as well as composing one’s own music on the instrument right from the start. Note-reading is introduced after the foundations of playing the instrument are firmly established. As students become more advanced, they determine their points of interest and key motivators and work with the teacher to find a unique learning pathway that is most suitable to where they want to go.
Guitar

Guitar students at BT Studios will benefit from a holistic approach to the instrument, informed by the very broad-ranging experiences and influences that make up Gil’s musical path. These include formal classical guitar training in Europe, recording and touring with a prolific instrumental rock band, Suzuki Guitar Method training with Bill Kossler (one of the method’s co-authors), many years working as a composer, and various bold experimentations as a digital luthier and sound artist. BT Studios guitar students are therefore encouraged to become complete musicians, with solid technique and musicianship, good knowledge of the repertoire from different epochs and genres, a capacity to improvise/write new music, and openness to experimentation.
Composition & Music Production

Composition and Music Production classes are tailor-made for each student’s individual musical journey. Some students come to these lessons with the intention of building a more creative relationship with their chosen musical instrument, other students prefer to dive into the fundamentals of multitrack audio recording, editing and mixing, while others still are passionate about making film music or abstract soundscapes. BT Studios welcomes them all!
Learning happens through a hands-on, module-based approach in which students have the freedom to define their project of choice, exploring creative possibilities at every step of the way. Gil provides cleverly scaffolded weekly tasks, answers questions, and mentors students while empowering them to find their own creative direction.
